The GFX can be combined with tankless water heaters to not only recover heat from drain water, but to heat the whole house. The following diagram shows how such a system can be configured.
Advantages include:
Minimal standby losses from stored hot water.
Two consecutive showers pose no problem with the GFX heat recovery unit.
