CONFERENCE ATTENDEES SELECT WINNER OF OUTSTANDING GREEN PRODUCT AWARD
March 26, 2002, Seattle, Wash. - As part of the closing ceremonies for the fourth annual National Green Building Conference in Seattle, the attendee-selected winner of the Outstanding Green Product Award was announced. Conference attendees submitted their ballots and selected from among the products of 10 of this year's exhibitors. And the winner is...TR Strong Building Systems, Inc., distributor of GFX Drainwater Heat Recovery systems.
This award, which is presented to the exhibiting company at the National Green Building Conference that attendees feel has the greatest impact on advancing the cause of resource-efficient home construction, is part of the National Green Building Awards program. The awards program debuted at last year's conference, and the NAHB Research Center presented the first full slate of National Green Building Awards winners this March.
TR Strong describes the GFX graywater/wastewater heat recovery unit as a very simple plumbing device that has no moving parts, is self-cleaning, and works on existing water pressure and gravity. Some units can recycle over 60% of the heat in the hot wastewater going down the drain and can triple electric water heater capacity. The company also says GFX is very beneficial in commercial and industrial applications with large volumes of hot process water.
Other than the on-site ballot-based selection of the Outstanding Green Product recipient, winners of five categories were selected for the National Green Building Awards program for 2002. Judging for these five awards took place at the NAHB Research Center in January:
